The begining of the death cry, or How to slowly kill a game.
* Ursan blessing and other overpowered PvE skills.
* Lvl10s being allowed into Eotn.
also (but not so bad) * Triple experience from all primary storyline quests in Eye of the North.
* Double the chance to receive rare items from chests, and triple the drop rate of Lockpicks in Eye of the North. (Ok these are only for a 10 day period)
This is either very deliberate businessmanship or it is gross negligence on the part of Anet.
I think it must be deliberate. I mean the only way for them to make money is to sell their games. And when GW2 comes out they MUST get GW players onto it otherwise they will lose money. All those people who say they will continue with GW and will not buy GW2 are actually bad business for the devs, and are not paying their salaries.
The upside of this is that they WILL listen to the community because they want us to all buy the game.
The downside is that now that GW is no longer economically viable for them (the ammount of sales will be decreasing exponentialy by now, hence all the promotions to get people to buy it) it seems as though they are deliberately trying to put our beloved game to death, so that by the time GW2 is released we will want to buy it as GW will be completely unrewarding if not unplayable.
Remember how hard your first DoA run was? How difficult it was to get a team that worked together just right, each understanding their roles and having exactly the right build in order to get to and beat Mallyx? Only players who really understood how the game worked, who had the correct skillbars and had put a lot of effort in could do it.
Why havent they nerfed Ursan Blessing yet? (the touch modification hasn't nerfed its power yet). Again, either negligence or a deliberate scheme to gradually kill off the game. So now any noob of any profession who doesnt have a clue how the game really works only has to get to lvl10 before hopping into Eotn and grabbing his Ursan Blessing. He can then power through the rest of the game with this skill and a couple of monk heros and some henchies, get to the elite areas and team up with all the other UB noobs to run through the hardest parts of the game.
Of course i'm ranting a bit, by the time you reach DoA you must have some understanding of the game mechanics even if you used UB to get there, but its still making things incredibly easy, and destroying all enjoyment for those of us who spend most of our time in those ultra-hard (compared to the rest of the game at least) areas.
Remember how elite DoA used to be? Remember all those frustrated wammos or 'sins begging to be let onto a team? It really annoyed me the first time i arrived there, it seemed so elitist. But as i learned the builds and joined teams it taught me to be a better player and to understand the game, and i remember the satisfaction of finally beating mallyx after many evenings getting pwned by a bit of over aggro after hours in the foundry.
All that is gone now, the joy of owning weapons which required many runs through these areas is gone. Every warrior i see these days has a Tormented shield. Six noob ursans and a couple of monks (heros will do) can breeze through anything. Of course there will always be the purists who insist on doing things the traditional way, but the majority of players will take the path of least resistance, and destroy the overall game for the rest of us. Its already happening.
Anet, dont you realise what you are doing to our game? Or are these overpowered skills and eroding of team standards a deliberate attempt to slowly kill it off so that by the time GW2 comes out GW will be unrewarding and unplayable?
By refusing to nerf UB you are telling us that it is deliberate.
Rest in Peace Guildwars. Your death will go forgotten under the bulldozer of capitalism.

The first one I agree with, the 2nd and 3rd are a bunch of whining. Letting lower levels into EotN hurts absolutely no-one, and since when have lockpicks or rare weapon drops actually mattered? You can get max armor and weapons for under 20k, anything past that is unneeded.
Seriously people complain about anything, if Anet made an update which did this:

Lol.
Funniest thing about this crap thread is that it is a horribly veiled attempt at making yet another nerf UB thread. Gonna close this one too Ark? GG

The game has been 'dying' for a long time. However, the majority of the playerbase (i.e., people who don't post on gurus), aren't aware of this 'fact' and actually don't give a shit at all. They're perfectly happy where they are, mired in apathy and blissful ignorance of the impending apocaly-
Yeah.
Games have to sell. You can make the best game in the world and it's totally irrelevant if it doesn't sell. People are shit-munching morons, but they're people with money. There's a good reason for why most of the 'games' coming out now are all graphics and no substance (or clothes). We'll see if Blizzard can pull another rabbit out of their ass soon.

It as supposibly been dying since the last 2years, actualy probably since that original AoE nerf
I'l keep enjoying GW, you can go on the corner of the street with that sandwich board screaming the end is near.
I vote that any "guild wars is dying" must go throught a mod so that are at least

I think the only big GW update to come along where people DIDN'T cry "GW is dying!!!!" is the Sorrow's Furnace addition.
Locked chests? Check
Factions? Check
Nightfall? Check
GW:EN? Check
Incorporation of the Battle Islands? Check
Soul reaping nerf? Check
Every major skill balance? Check
Hard mode? Check
I'm sure I've missed some, too.

- Guild Wars 1 is made to be so crappy that everyone wants to buy GW2? I don't follow your train of thought here.

- Yeah I remember how insanely boring it was with 1 health necro saccer bibber and obsidian tank warrior stealing all drops in Stygian Veil.... me doing nothing but casting Heal Party on tank that was radar range away. I played that piece of $h1t for two hours before burn-out. I'm glad there's at least alternatives now.

- So any noob of any profession can actually get something done in the game now? Are you just so full of shit you don't want anyone else to even come near to your precious farming spots? You don't share my sympathy, go jump off a bridge.

- Well guess what? What you did on day one has absolutely no relevance to what game is like today! ANET is making this game based on popular demand and if you want nothing but farm some stupid endgame area alone, you're going to be left out. Haha, I guess you're pissed about loot scaling too, since "every noob out there can have gold items" and you're 55 monking won't get you 100+ectos anymore.

- If "majority of players" would indeed jump off a bridge, I guess you would follow them, because "majority of players" dictate what you can or cannot do in the game. m I rite?

If the only way a person can get enjoyment from the game is to easily stroll through it because of an ovepowered PvE skill, or by farming some rare item then selling it for large amounts of gold, then I pity you. The purpose of the game is have fun, but to also experience a bit of a challenge. If that is no longer true for you, then why continue to play?

Since Ursan Blessing, all classes can participate hard areas.... Before this elite, assassin, mesmer, and some other classes was always pushed back from groups. So, all my friends playing these careers are very happy about this elite areas democratisation, and congratulate Arena a lot for that
